Goals

My goals when tutoring for a standardized test are straightforward:

Discuss and demonstrate test-taking strategies

  • Review material specified for the test
  • Supply extra practice worksheets for any problem topics
  • Practice with real problems from the publishers of the test (if no "real” examples are available, we will work with the best available problem)
  • If you need help with a course that is not on this list, Ask!
  • Session Focus

How we focus the sessions depends on two things:
  • what topics you already know need work
  • what we discover needs improvement

    We can

  • work in the review book together
  • work on questions you bring in

If you want more practice on any concept, I will supply worksheets.

You may only want to get help with

  • test-taking skills
  • organizing to prepare for a test

The advantage of individualized tutoring is that we can skip practicing things you already know!

I do not guarantee a specific score. What I offer is a set of tools to help you as you do the work of studying. Practicing at home, including at least 1 or two timed practice tests, will help you to maximize your score. The more time and effort you spend the better you can do!

I tutor for the math portion only of standardized tests. Please Check out my Resources Page to find a list of useful websites and books.
